With rising interest in K-pop, we are here to share the Australian line in the Korean music industry!

Some of the Kpop groups most successful artists consist of Australian members such as Stray Kids, BLACKPINK, Enhypen, NMIXX, NewJeans, and DPR IAN.

Let’s take a closer look at the Aussie line:

STRAY KIDS

If you follow K-pop, you have probably heard of Stray Kids. Within this popular boy group, there are two Australian members from Sydney.

Leader of the group, 25-year-old Bang Chan (also known by his Australian name “Christopher”) was raised in Sydney, Australia from a young age.

Felix Lee is the lead dancer and sub-rapper, who was born and raised in Sydney, Australia. The two Aussies connected in JYP over their roots, and love to reminisce fondly of their hometown together.

NMIXX

NMIXX are a newer girl group under JYP Entertainment who debuted in February 2022. Check out their hit song “O.O”, which had fans from all over the world checking them out.

Main vocalist and eldest member is 20 year old Lily Jin Morrow, who was born and raised in Marysville, Victoria, Australia. She also trained with Stray Kids at JYP Entertainment. The JYPE Aussie line have all spoken of their close friendships with each other.

BLACKPINK

26 year old main vocalist and lead dancer, Roseanne Chae-young Park (or better known as Rosé) was born in Auckland, New Zealand. She relocated to Melbourne, Australia at a young age where she was raised, before kickstarting her career with BLACKPINK in South Korea.

NEWJEANS

OMG! NewJeans are on the rise for fame right now and everyone is talking about them. NewJeans debuted in July, 2022 and have already been a top hit girl group in South Korea.

Vocalist Mo Ji-hye, also known as “Danielle” is 18 years old. She was born in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. At 3 years old, Danielle and her family moved back to South Korea. In 2012, her family relocated back to Australia. However in 2019, Danielle made her way back to South Korea to pursue her dream in becoming a K-pop idol.

ENHYPEN

Enhypen are on the rise for success and increasing popularity after debuting in November, 2020. If you haven’t heard of them already, you definitely will at some point or another! This talented group also has an Australian member.

Sim Jaeyun, who is better known by his Australian name “Jake”, is the lead vocalist and sub-dancer in Enhypen. He is 20 years old. He was born in South Korea, but moved to Brisbane, Australia while he was young.

DPR Ian

DPR Ian, (English name: Christian Yu, Korean name: Yu Ba Rom), is a former C-CLOWN member. His role in C-CLOWN was main rapper and main dancer. In C-CLOWN he was known as “Rome”. The 32 year old was born in Sydney, Australia and moved to South Korea to pursue his career in music.

DPR Ian is part of the group Dream Perfect Regime (DPR) which is a multi-genre music and video producing group. He has released solo work under DPR, in which did his own producing, directing and editing.

His current albums are DPR ARCHIVES, made in 2020 and part 2 made in 2023. Moodswings in This Order, 2021 and Moodswings in to Order, 2022.
